New Patient Special
Why People Love East Lake Family Dental
What to Expect During Your Dental Checkup
Our locally owned, female-led team cares for patients of all ages in a calm, judgment-free setting. We listen first, explain every step, and respect your time and your goals. We collect your patient history and insurance info with digital forms for a faster, safer visit.

Teeth Cleaning
Your hygienist gently removes plaque and tartar that brushing and flossing leave behind, then polishes your teeth so they feel clean and smooth. We keep you comfortable the whole time and share simple, personalized tips to help you care for your smile at home.
Digital X-rays
When needed, we take digital X-rays that give clear images of your teeth, roots, and jaw with much less radiation than traditional films. These pictures help us spot cavities, bone changes, and other concerns early, and you can see the images on screen right along with us.

Dental Exam
Your dentist carefully checks your teeth, gums, bite, and existing dental work to look for signs of decay, gum disease, or wear. Then we review what we find in plain language and talk through your options so you can choose the care that fits your needs and goals.
Oral Cancer Screening
As part of every checkup, we do a oral cancer screening to support your overall health. We look at your lips, tongue, cheeks, and throat for any unusual changes, giving you extra peace of mind with a simple, painless step.

We Take Your Insurance
Our office works with most major PPO insurance plans. We’ll verify your benefits and estimate costs before you come in. Please note that at this time, we do not accept HMO or Medicaid.
How Often Should I Go To The Dentist?
Many patients do well with a checkup every six months.
These visits help us clean away hard buildup and catch small issues before they turn into bigger problems.
Some patients need visits more often, such as every three to four months, including those who:
- Have gum disease
- Get frequent cavities
- Have certain medical conditions
- Are in active treatment or wearing certain restorations
We will talk with you about your mouth, your health, and your goals, then recommend a schedule that makes sense for you.

Dental Checkups For Kids, Too
We welcome children starting as early as three months old. Our goal is to make each visit positive so kids feel comfortable coming back.
For children, we focus on:
- Short, friendly visits that build trust
- Gentle cleanings and exams at their pace
- Fluoride and sealants when needed
- Simple, age-appropriate education about brushing and healthy snacks
There is a play area to help kids feel relaxed, and parents are always welcome in the room. We want you and your child to feel like you are visiting familiar faces, not a scary place.

Keep Your Teeth Healthy Between Visits
Most of the work happens at home, not in our chair.
Simple daily habits make a real difference.
We recommend you:
- Brush twice a day for two minutes with fluoride toothpaste
- Use a soft-bristled toothbrush
- Floss once a day to clean between teeth
- Drink water often and limit sugary drinks and snacks
- Wear a mouthguard for sports or if you grind your teeth at night
If you ever feel unsure about products or routines, bring your questions. We are happy to suggest brushes, floss, rinses, or other tools that fit your needs.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you speak languages other than English?
Yes! Our multilingual team can communicate with you in your preferred language, ensuring you fully understand your dental health and treatment options. We believe effective communication is essential to providing excellent care, and we're committed to making every patient feel comfortable and informed regardless of their primary language. We speak English and Spanish fluently
What should I do to prepare for my first dental checkup?
Preparing for your first appointment is simple. Bring a valid ID, your insurance card if you have coverage, and a list of any medications you're currently taking. Arrive a few minutes early to complete any necessary paperwork, or ask about completing forms online beforehand. Brush and floss before your appointment.
If you have specific concerns or questions about your oral health, write them down so you remember to discuss them with your dentist. Most importantly, relax! Our friendly team will make you feel welcome and comfortable from the moment you walk through our door.
Do you offer same day appointments for dental emergencies?
Yes! We understand that dental emergencies can't wait. East Lake Family Dental offers same day emergency appointments for urgent dental concerns. We have openings available for emergency exams and can often provide treatment the same day, depending on what's needed. If you're experiencing a dental emergency, contact us right away and we'll get you in as quickly as possible.
How long does a typical dental checkup take?
A comprehensive dental checkup typically takes about 60 minutes. This includes your professional cleaning, digital x-rays (if needed), thorough examination, oral cancer screening, and time to discuss any findings or questions with your dentist. We respect your time and run our schedule efficiently while never rushing through your care. If you have time constraints, let us know when scheduling and we'll do our best to accommodate your needs.
Why is oral cancer screening important?
Oral cancer screening is a quick, painless examination that can save lives through early detection. When caught early, oral cancer is highly treatable. During your checkup, we examine your mouth, tongue, throat, and surrounding tissues for any unusual changes or abnormalities. Regular screenings are especially important if you use tobacco, consume alcohol frequently, or have a family history of cancer.
What insurance plans do you accept?
We accept Aetna, Ameritas, BlueCross BlueShield, Cigna, Florida Combined Life, Freedom Life, GEHA, Guardian, Humana, MetLife, Mutual of Omaha, Principal, Sunlife, UnitedHealthcare, Unum insurance plans. Our knowledgeable team will work with your insurance provider to maximize your benefits and minimize your out-of-pocket costs. We'll verify your coverage before your appointment and explain what your plan covers so there are no surprises.
Are digital X-rays safe?
Yes, digital X-rays are extremely safe and actually expose you to up to 90% less radiation than traditional film X-rays. They provide detailed, high-quality images that help us detect problems early and plan effective treatment. The small amount of radiation from dental X-rays is comparable to the radiation you're exposed to during a short airplane flight. We only take x-rays when necessary for your diagnosis and care.
